Ferrari took the wraps off the new 2013 Formula 1 car at the company’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy, with Scuderia drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The new car is called F138, and it’s powered by a 2.4 liter V8 KERS engine. The only visual difference over the last year’s car is a new nose.
If we decipher the F138 name, the F stands for both Ferrari and Formula 1, the 13 is for the 2013 season, and the 8 is the number of cylinders in the car. If they continue this trend next year, that car would be called the F146, because from 2014 all F1 cars will be powered by turbocharged V6 engines.
Scuderia Ferrari’s main sponsors for the 2013 season include Shell, Santander, Kaspersky Lab, Hublot, TNT, and Philip Morris.
