It is officially official now: Ferrari’s new hyper car, the replacement for the Enzo is called LaFerrari and it’s a seriously amazing piece of kit.

The Headlines: 963 horsepower from a V12 HYKERS engine; seven-speed dual-clutch; 0 to 100 km/h under 3 seconds; top speed 350 km/h; limited to 499 units.

The V12 petrol engine is based on the same unit you find in the Ferrari F12, only here it makes 800 horsepower and revs up to more than 9,000 RPM. The rest of the power comes from an electric motor. The dawn of hybrid hyper cars is finally upon us.

LaFerrari – The Ferrari – measures 4702mm long, 1992mm wide and 1116mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2665mm. It is made largely from carbon fiber and other exotic materials, which is why it only weighs 1.2 tons. The car features 19-inch wheels with 265/30 tires up front, and 20-inch wheels with 345/30 tires out back. Stopping power is provided by Brembo carbon ceramic.

As for the suspension, it’s a double wishbone front – multi-link rear system, but it’s governed by an army of electronic overlords, chief among which the ESC stability control, EF1-TRAC traction control, electronic differential, and magnetorheological damping with twin solenoids.

This is all you need to know about the new Ferrari hyper car. Well, this, and the fact that it’s limited to 499 units, each starting at 1.3 million Euro. Guess it will give McLaren P1 a good run for its money.
