While American tuners always come up with wide body kits for the BMW M3 E92, the Europeans tend to focus on the performance. Most European tuning packages for the E92 are designed to unleash its track capabilities, and the hell with the way it looks. Here’s Leib Engineering’s take on the M3.
Dubbed the M3 GT500, this performance package boosts the output of the car’s 4.0 liter V8 to 470 horsepower, using a new steel exhaust system featuring a 100-cell HJS catalyzer and an X-pipe with middle silencers. The valves in the mufflers are connected to the car’s M button, and once opened, they make the M3 bark like a wounded animal.
Also contributing to the power upgrade is a new ECU software. While they were at it, they also tweaked the software that controls the DCT transmission for faster shift times, and the one that controls the ABS to make it cut in later than usual.
Also part of the program is a new set of 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup semi-slicks tires – 235/35 R19 front and 265/30 R19 rear – and Brembo brake package – six-piston up front, sour-piston out back.
Sport seats and some Alcantara are among the goodies offered for the interior.
