Modern Mercedes SL models, R230 and R231, are great candidates for wide body treatment, but now Atelier Valdeig is trying to apply that to the classic 300 SL Roadster type W198. This is a restomod job to alter the looks of the SL, even though it is much better in its standard form.
We are actually quite keen to see how the end result will look like in the flesh. What they are proposing is a 300 SL with entirely new side panels. You do lose the signature bulges over the fenders because the wings are all new and they are designed to accommodate much larger wheels than the standard.
There are also new air vents built in the fenders and side pipes. The tuner recommends 16 Inch Revolution rims equipped with white wall tires for this car, but you can also go for the 1/11 and the 1/16 rim from Carlsson.
Another option is the headlights, which can be chosen from both the original upright head lamps or the round ones of the Gullwing model. This car was initially designed for a replica car maker, but then the project was cancelled.
