Maria Sharapova Named Porsche’s First Global Ambassador

Maria Shapapova Porsche Ambassador at Maria Sharapova Named Porsches First Global Ambassador

Female tennis superstar Maria Sharapova is now the official face of German sports car maker, Porsche. She has signed a three-year contract with the brand to endorse their products and become their first ever global ambassador.

Because Porsche has never had an ambassador before, some may think that they got carried away and hired the wrong person. If you think about it, Porsche makes sports cars – which most women hate – and most of their buyers – over 80 percent – are men. Plus, they have access to many tier one racing drivers, much more relevant and much more familiar to their typical customers.

But Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller says Maria is the perfect choice for the job, as “Her profile and charisma are an ideal fit for Porsche.” We reckon this deal has more to do with Maria’s beautiful smile than her successful tennis career. And anyway, we certainly prefer to see Maria posing next to new Porsche cars than, say, Mark Webber!

This may be a first for Porsche, but they are the sixth big brand Sharapova is associated with. She also works with Nike, Cole Haan, Evian, Tag Heuer and Samsung. And those are in addition to her own candy brand, Sugarpova. She reportedly makes $20 million a year in endorsements.
