Mercedes tuner VATH announced details of their performance upgrades package for the SL-Class R231 series. They have something in store for all models in the range, and promise some bold power and performance numbers.
VATH begins with the V35 program for the SL350 V6, which boosts the output from 306 PS to 330 PS and also offers 390 Nm of torque. This model has a top speed of 269 km/h. Then we have the 435 PS SL500 version. It gets the V50 package in three editions: V50 (465 PS – 750 Nm – 275 km/h); V50S (518 PS – 810 Nm – 300 km/h; and V50RS (550 PS – 830 Nm – 300 km/h).
Even if you go for the AMG versions VATH has got you covered. The SL63 AMG, available with 537 or 564 PS, also gets three stages of tuning: V63 (600 PS – 850 Nm); V63S (630 PS – 900 Nm), and V63R Export (680 PS – 1000 Nm). Finally, the SL65 AMG, already bonkers with 630 PS standard, gets two packages: V65S (672 PS – 1148 Nm), and V65RS (745 PS, 1148).
Now, the AMG kit seem a bit pointless, as all of them are limited to 300 km/h. But I guess you may want the better acceleration and surge of the more powerful models.
