As you may know from our previous reports, Nissan’s in-house tuner NISMO is taking up a much stronger role in the company’s business. The ultimate goal is to turn NISMO into Nissan’s performance brand, like what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz.
To show how serious they are about all this stuff, NISMO hosted a track day event for the members of the press at the Nashville Superspeedway, where the capabilities of their cars was showcased in action.
NISMO’s current lineup include 2013 and 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO, the JUKE-R, the 2013 Nissan JUKE NISMO, and the 2014 GT-R Track Edition. Over the next few years will be seeing more and more high performance Nissan models with NISMO badge on them.
“We think the track is a perfect place to showcase NISMO because NISMO is Nissan Motorsports. It’s the racing, the motor sports heritage that has inspired cars like the new JUKE NISMO, and it’s about bringing that excitement from the track to the street,” said Carl Phillips, chief marketing manager, NISMO and Nissan sports car marketing – Nissan North America.
