A truly unique piece of automotive history will soon goes under the hammer at RM Auctions New York event in November. It is a one-off Aston Martin DB2/4 MkII Supersonic built in 1956 by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin.
Being a coachbuilt Aston Martin, this DB2/4 was not designed to contribute any significant technology to the world of cars. It was a play thing for the jet set and that’s what it’s spent its time doing when it was new. The car was ordered by members of the Vanderbilt family, and later on it became American F1 driver Harry Schell’s ride at the French Riviera.
The car was featured in Life Magazine and also won awards at the Pebble Beach Concourse. It is expected to fetch between $1.5 and $2 million.
