In Citroen’s book after the C4 comes, naturally, the Grand C4. A bigger, more versatile version, but one that is just as insane design-wise. The new Grand C4 Picasso is a rare thing. It manages to be hugely practical, incredibly efficient, and yet very fun and interesting to live with. With such qualities, you have to say this is the best MPV in the world!
The car is built on the new EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) to provide an ideal combination of versatility, cabin space and accessibility, underpinned with three rows of seats. It even offers up to 700 litres of space with row two seats in their forward position.
Then there is the super efficient powertrains, with BlueHDi 150 unit which emits just 110g/km of CO2 emissions (manual) and 117g/km of CO2 for the automatic version, or the e-HDi 90 Airdream engine with 98 g/km CO2.
The practicality and the efficiency are brilliant, but the best things about the Picasso are the design, inside and out. You won’t get bored with those weird but amazing pillars, those headlights and the funny face in a hurry. The interior is inspired by a lounge, says Citroen, a high-tech lounge. It offers flexible seating, a 7”touchscreen driving interface combined with a high-definition 12” panoramic screen, and an all-new 360? Vision system.
The car is also as comfortable as a lounge. Part of it is due to those big French seats, but mostly, it is because of Citroen’s unique suspension system. What’s more, the car is made fairly light, which helps, and it comes with an electric power steering system that minimises vibrations transmitted from the road to the steering column.
Detailed specs and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
