Mercedes GL63 AMG Widestar by Brabus – 620 Horsepower

Another overpowered monster by Brabus, this time based on the already bonkers Mercedes GL63 AMG. The high-powered SUV boasts in excess of 500 horsepower in its standard factory form. When Brabus is through with it though, that number go up to 620 horsepower. Do you need all that power in a utility vehicle? Hells Yeah!

There is something strangely attractive about cars that are pointlessly posh and powerful, and this Widestar GL definitely qualifies as one. Rather than putting their own V12 engine in this car, Brabus decided to exercise with the AMG’s own M157 biturbo V8. It’s undergone a deep surgery and emerged with 620 hp and over 800 Nm of torque.

The result of that colossal power in terms of performance is a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds and a limited top speed of 280 km/h; astonishing figures for a large seven-seat SUV such as the GL.

Brabus, of course, has done a lot of structural work to keep this car in check at high speed. There is trick suspension that lowers the GL and makes it firmer. There’s a set of large wheels (up to 23-inch) wrapped with high performance rubber. And there is an aero kit that help the car cut through the air more efficiently.

That last part, the aero kit, also gives the GL63 Widestar a cool look, what with the new bumpers and spoilers and diffusers. For the interior Brabus offers a number of different packages, all of them excessively luxurious. You can choose between different kinds and colors of exotic leather and Alcantara, and you can go for either wood or carbon fiber to complement the aluminum accents on your dashboard.
