Nissan’s in-house tuner – which is actually now part of the brand, like what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz – released its official tuning kit for the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle in Japan. You can tell they have tried very hard to enhance the looks of the LEAF. And you can also tell they have failed.

It’s not Nismo’s fault though. The LEAF is a hard car to improve. The overall shape of the thing is ungainly. The headlights are too big. And the car’s character just doesn’t accept sportiness. Nevertheless, Nismo has fitted it with an aero set consisting of a front spoiler lip, side skirts, a rear diffuser, as well as a rear wing.

Other mods worth mentioning include sport suspension that lowers the car by 3 centimeters, a set of 18-inch wheels, and some detailing such as carbon fiber mirror caps.

The tuner has not made any changes to the car’s performance, because they are expert mechanics not electricians. But they do provide you with a magical box, which once connected to the vehicle alters a few parameters and makes it feel a bit sharper. They didn’t clarify if it has a negative effect on the LEAF’s range.
