After years of speculation about a new sports car by Mercedes-Benz that would slot between the SL and the SLS, this last couple of weeks we’ve been bombarded with pictures and information about this model, allegedly called the Mercedes SLC.
There has been another development recently, as these images you see here surfaced on the web. They are obviously computer-generated images, but they are sourced from AutoBild, and these guys are usually pretty accurate with their renderings.
Apparently, they have been developed based on snapshots taken from the car’s official brochure, used by Mercedes sales people to persuade potential customers to place an early order. So yes, they are almost certainly the real deal.
The SLC is said to be replacement for the SLS – rather than a cheaper, more sporty version of the same car that would be in effect the underboss – powered by a brand-new 4.0 liter AMG biturbo V8 engine that develops upwards of 500 horsepower. Like the SLS, the SLC too is developed entirely by AMG.
Judging by these pictures, we have to say the SLC looks absolutely brilliant; especially around at the back. As we have reported earlier, AMG has signed a partnership contract with Aston Martin. Looks like it’s already affecting their design.
