At this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show Carlsson showed a great interest in the smaller cars by their beloved brand, Mercedes Benz. After doing up the CLA, they unveiled a tuning kit for the car on which it is based, the Mercedes A-Class hatchback.
As with the CLA, Carlsson Mercedes A-Class gets a visual treatment, upgraded chassis, and the same power kits for the 200 and 250 engines. The A-Class being a hatchback, the body kit is more sober and includes subtly designed wings and spoiler, revised bumpers, side skirts, and grille inserts. It does make the car look fancier than the standard, but doesn’t go too far.
In the chassis department, we get the 35mm lower sport springs, or the adjustable coilovers, depending on how much we are wiling to spend. Wheels from 18 to 20 inch in size, wrapped with high performance tires are the next items on the list.
As for the performance, after hooking up every model with a sport exhaust system with four tailpipes that gives an extra 3 horsepower, Carlsson offers an upgrade to 187hp and 300Nm for the A200, and a boost to 250hp and 420Nm for the A250.
