Caterham Seven 160 1 600x400 at Entry Level Caterham Seven 160 Pricing Announced

British sports car maker Caterham announced the official pricing of its new entry-level model, named Seven 160, in the British market. This model harks back to the simple early models with features like a small three-cylinder engine, and live rear axle. However, Caterham is adamant it is still a lot of fun.

Priced from £14,995, the Caterham Seven 160 is indeed cheaper than the proper Seven model with 2.0 liter Ford engines, but it is still quite pricey for a car with no roof, no luxury amenity, and an 80hp from its 660cc, three-cylinder Suzuki engine.

None of that matter, of course, because Caterham Seven 160 is a niche product. As long it is fun to drive, all is well. And it probably will be extremely good fun, but in a retro, old-fashioned way. The new rear axle, a throwback to early Sevens in terms of simplicity and purity of design, results in old days handling characteristics, while the 80bhp turbocharged engine provides you with just enough power for a satisfying drive; not too much that you crash, not to little that you curse. 0 to 60 mph takes 6.5 seconds in this car.

Caterham Seven 160 starts from £14,995, or 17,995 fully built.
