Faster Tesla Model S Planned for Germany

Tesla Model S 600x407 at Faster Tesla Model S Planned for Germany

Maybe he just got carried away, but Tesla’s boss Elon Musk promised at their new German service center that they are going to launch a faster version of the Model S exclusively for the Fatherland. It will be an Autobahn-tuned, if you will, version of the highly acclaimed electric sedan.

Apparently the Tesla Model S is not very much to the German taste, hence Musk’s promise that he will see into it that Tesla engineers will fine-tune the car until it becomes just right for the German roads. He mentioned greater top speed directly, hinting at a faster model which will probably get a beefier electric motor.

To be available as an upgrade for the existing Tesla Model S models as well, the high-speed package, as we may call it, will invariably affect the car’s range. Musk did not mention how they are going to compensate for that, but using bigger batteries probably won’t be a good solution, as the added weight of them will spoil the point of having more power in the first place. And there isn’t much they can do about aerodynamics, as the Model S already excels at that.

Other bold statements by Mr. Musk include a promise to launch a Supercharger network across the Germany with 40 to 50 stations, and dismissing the idea of hydrogen-powered cars by calling them, well, bullsh*t.
