The new generation Kia Forte Koup has a rather disappointing design, compared to the groundbreaking looks of the first model. So the company is trying to compensate by adding more features and offering new engines. Speaking of which, the Koup is now available with a 201-hp 2 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit in SX guise.
This is the same engine they put in the hot version of the Pro Ceed in Europe, and makes a healthy 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,750-4,500 rpm. The 22.4 liter unit is discontinued, but you can still get the 2.0 liter four-banger, with 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm.
2014 Kia Forte Koup Turbo features a sport-tuned suspension with a McPherson strut setup in front and a torsion beam rear design, and can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
In terms of features and equipment, the 2014 Kia Forte Koup Turbo SX is rich as ever, coming as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, and LED tail lights. Forte Koup SX also features an aggressive front fascia with larger bumper and grille openings, black gloss grille inserts, larger front brakes, alloy sport pedals as well as front and rear seats with carbon fiber-style accents. The lower front fascia and rear valance also include carbon fiber-look trim.
The fully-loaded model can be had with HID headlights, navigation system with HD Radio, sunroof, heated steering wheel, 10-way adjustable power driver’s seat, heated front seats and ventilated driver’s seat, leather-trimmed seating surfaces, SmartKey with push-button start, electric chromatic rearview mirror and dual-zone automatic climate control.
