Each year Brabus makes a handful of very, very powerful versions of AMG Mercs to show their engineering superiority to other tuners. Here’s one of this year’s offerings, the 2014 Brabus Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon, prepared just in time for the Essen Motor Show.

Even though the car in question here is an estate, Brabus saw no reason to hold back and gave it all it had. And by that we mean 850 horsepower and 1,450 Nm of torque, limited to 1,150 Nm to stop the gearbox from getting ripped to pieces.

Normally, this kind of power is reserved for Brabus’ big V12 engines. But this car is actually powered by the newer 5.5 liter bi-turbo AMG V8. Mind you, Brabus has so deeply modified this unit it hardly has any resemblance to the one that left Affalterbach.

They first drilled the engine from 5.5 liter to 5.9 liters, then installed their own custom turbochargers with bespoke intercoolers, and replaced the exhaust system as well. A few other adjustments here and there, and there you have it, a monstrous wagon that goes from 0 to 100 km/h in a supercar-busting 3.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 350 km/h with special tires, and 300 with normal road tires.

Visually, as is the case with these Brabus cars, you get a discreet aero kit to help with the air flow and also give the car a meaner look, and 20-inch wheels behind which there are humongous brake discs – and above which there’s a sophisticated suspension system. Inside, leather, Alcantara, carbon and aluminum is used generously to style the cabin.
