The guys at Racing One motorsport firm believe that no form of driving is fun other than racing. They don’t even care how brilliant a road car may be, they say it’s boring because it’s road going. Not even the Ferrari 458 Italia could float their boast. Which is why they decided to turn it into a competition car.

So if for some reason you don’t like the 458 Challenge offered by Ferrari themselves – or if you want to compete in other races other than the 458’s one-make series – you can get the Racing One Ferrari 458 Competition, which is a whole lot more serious than Ferrari’s own effort.

The engineers have fiddled with the 458’s 4.5 liter V8 engine and boosted its output from 562 to 620 horsepower. That is more than you get from a 458 Speciale. Then they set about shaving as much weight off the car as they possibly could. And they’ve done a great job of it.

Racing One Ferrari 458 Competition weighs slightly over 1,200 kilo, which is 200 kg lighter than the standard car. In order to achieve that saving, the interior is pretty much stripped-out, save a few items like the air con, and a full carbon fiber body kit is fitted in place of standard body panels. Even the brake discs are swapped with light carbon ceramic ones. Needless to say, the tires are now racing slicks, and the suspension is upgraded to a full racing system courtesy of KW.

In Germany the Racing One Ferrari 458 Competition is eligible to enter VLN and DMV series. Or, you can just use it as a track toy.
