Following a couple of very intriguing teaser videos, BMW has now dropped the official specs and details of the M235i Racing track car. Built to complement BMW’s customer racing range, this 60,000 Euro track toy can be entered in VLN Endurance Series and the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
The BMW M235i Racing is a converted version of the road-going model, powered by turbocharged straight six-cylinder petrol engine developing 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The difference is this car features racing exhaust with racing catalytic converters and a TANK Motorsport safety fuel tank.
The transmission is operated via steering-mounted paddle shifters, and it works in tandem with an M limited-slip differential. So even if you lose the race, you’d still a jolly good time driving this car round the track.
The standard suspension in the BMW M235i is ditched and replaced with KW dampers and H&R springs, featuring two-way anti-roll bars. The brakes are also motorsport ready, featuring 4-pot fixed calipers up front and 2-pot out back. BMW M235i Racing maintains the road cars ABS, DSC, and ASC systems. So it can be driven by novices as well pros.
Other racing bits and bobs include Recaro racing seat, 6-point racing harness from Schroth, optimal taxi seat, and an FIA issue roll cage. We should also mention the car’s racing body kit that looks utterly magnificent.
