McLaren P13: Initial Details Revealed

McLaren P13 sketch 600x343 at McLaren P13: Initial Details Revealed

McLaren has confirmed some of the rumors about their new, entry-level model, going on sale in early 2015. It’s called the P13 – I know, McLaren has no imagination when it comes to naming their products – and it is a proper rival for the Porsche 911.

Actually, considering the projected price of the McLaren P13, which is around £120,000, it is closer to the GT3 or Turbo. But in terms of specification, with 444 hp coming from twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8, it fits the bill as a Carrera rival. McLaren’s uniqueness and the weight of the brand can easily justify the price difference.

The image above is a preview of what the McLaren P13 would look like, and you can clearly see the effect of the P1 hyper car on its design. You can make the obvious jokes now that this car is a discount version of the P1 for those who can’t afford the real thing. You know what, it probably is!

With those large wheels, this sketch looks more like a caricature of the P13 released to get our engines revving. So don’t judge it yet. It has been produced by the guys at Autovisie based on a drawing by McLaren chief designer Frank Stephenson.

McLaren P13, reportedly, will go into production after all 375 units of the P1 have left the factory. A guest appearance at the 2014 Paris Motor Show is likely.
