To be honest with you we thought Top Gear would never be the same – you know, awesome adventures, long trips to exotic places, and funny cheap car challenges – with Jeremy Clarkson and James May getting seriously old, and Richard Hammond stuck in 36. But we were wrong. Very, very wrong.
Here’s some of the features of the Top Gear Series 21, being filmed for an early 2014 release (probably the 26th of January), pieced together using leaked info, Twitter pictures and comments, and fan pictures. They reveal some of the car’s the trio are testing this season, and some of the places they are going. And boy does it look exciting. just like the good old days.
In Top Gear Series 21 there is going to be a cool hot hatch test featuring the new Golf GTI Mk7. And that’s, evidently, the most boring film of the series. We already know that Jeremy has been to Spa Francorchamps to thoroughly test the new McLaren P1.
The team will be in Australia to finally experience the fearsome Bathurst race in a V8 Supercar first hand in one of the motorspot-themed films of series 21. The other will be much less extravagant, as Jeremy and James take part in the National MicroCar Rally in some ridiculously tiny cars.
Jeremy has also been spotted in Italy with a variety of different machinery. Someone spied him having a smoke and possibly muttering insults under his breath while man handling an amphibious quad in a lake somewhere. Jezza has also posted pictures of his review of the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, in what appears to be a group test of coachbuilt exotic cars with comparison to the cars they are based on, as a couple of Corvettes are knocking about in the background.
But perhaps the biggest highlight of the Series 21 will be a South East Asian trip in which the guys are apparently driving rusty old trucks all the way from Thailand to Myanmar. Heck of a challenge for three old men. Well, two old men and a 36-year old.
More recently the Top Gear boys have also been spotted in Finland, Ukraine, and Istanbul. Jeremy also hinted at this in his interview with Chris Evans Breakfast Show about their Christmas DVD the Perfect Road Trip. It could be a European grand tour, but in what appears to be a selection of small, cheap cars.
