Here’s an early look at Kia’s brand-new concept car for the 2014 Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS), the GT4 Stinger. The leaked images of the Stinger reveal the car almost entirely, and confirm early speculations that it is the Korean car maker’s answer to the Toyota GT86 sports car.
Kia GT4 Stinger is the firm’s first crack at making a proper sports car. So they decided not compromise and go all out with it. So the Stinger features a rear-drive chassis with sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, a 6-speed close-ratio gearbox, and to top it all off, a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine with 320 horsepower.
Of course, these are the specs of the concept car. If they decided to make this car a production reality – and they probably will, in a year or so – most of those mouthwatering features will be omitted, or at the very best offered as optional extras, due to the cost.
For now, let’s just enjoy the pictures of the Kia GT4 Stinger while we are waiting for the official material to arrive. Low, wide, and with compact dimensions, the Stinger certainly has the looks of a proper sports car. This must be the first truly exciting Kia car in, well, forever.
