The latest Chris Harris video is an absolute delight for the fans of sideways action. It is a group test of three family saloon cars that – in their standard form – are completely benign and the unlikeliest of candidates for drifting. But you see, these lot are not normal. They are the fastest, most powerful versions of their kind.

We have the Mercedes E63 AMG, the S-Model, which is normally four-wheel-drive but not in the UK; the absolutely gorgeous BMW M6 Gran Coupe which renders the M5 completely pointless; and the Jaguar XFR-S, which is just not as interesting as the other two. Fact.

If we gloss over the fact that XFR-S looks and feels a grade lower than the other two, the performance of these super saloon cars is too similar to be the sole deciding factor. If you want to make a logical decision, the M6 is the fastest, the XFR-S is the best drifter, and the E63 is the comfiest. We reckon it all comes down to the badge, and which one you think is better looking.
