Volvo released the official details and pictures of it XC Coupe, the second of a trio of concept cars that showcase the car maker’s future direction in terms of styling and technology. The Volvo XC Coupe, despite what the name might suggest, is a crossover vehicle designed for those with an active lifestyle.

Styling-wise, and even though it’s a two-door car with a seemingly tight interior, the XC Coue previews the next generation XC90 SUV. Praised for its impeccable practicality and value, the Volvo XC90 has been in production in pretty much the same shape for over a decade. Next year a car that will look remarkably similar to this Concept will replace it.

The highlights of the Volvo XC Coupe Concept’s design include unique LED headlight, which in combination with the large front grille creates a signature front-end look that will be applied, in one way or other, to all production Volvos in the future. The XC also features a set of 21-inch wheels. They are a vital part of the car’s powerful and iconic profile.

Built on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), the XC Coupe is also a technological marvel. It shares the cloud-based infotainment system Volvo introduced in the Sensus concept. What’s more, Volvo has teamed up with the Swedish company POC, which develops high-tech protective gear for extreme sports athletes to draw inspiration from their products for the new car. That is how you make a car that is really built for an active lifestyle – by talking to people who know what active lifestyle is all about.

The Volvo XC Coupe Concept will make its debut at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS) on January 13.
