Sales of fuel efficient cars is at an all time high these days, and car makers are responding to the demand by launching frugal new model powered by high-tech diesel engines. The new A6 TDI Ultra is one of Audi’s latest offerings for the eco-minded buyers, powered by a 2.0 liter TDi diesel engine.
The engine in the Audi A6 TDI Ultra makes 190 PS and 400Nm of torque, which is quite decent and makes its average fuel consumption of 64.2 mpg all the more impressive. It emits 114 grams of CO2 every kilometer which is also a good record for an executive saloon.
Apart from the frugal engine, Audi A6 Ultra come with other fuel-saving measure, chief among which a completely redesigned seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission, which replaces the eight-speed multitronic CVT in four-cylinder model. It has s smoother operation with less noise and vibration and is also optimized for minimised internal friction which helps the efficiency.
The Ultra version of the A6 can be specified with all the goodies of the normal models including S-Line visual treatment and 20-inch wheels. So onlooker would never know this is actually an eco model and you bought it because you want to save a few quids on fuel.
Available in Saloon and Avant forms, Audi A6 TDI Ultra goes on sale in the UK from March, starting from £32,515 OTR.
