Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio Headed for Geneva Debut

Alpina’s first take on the new 4-Series BMW concerns the convertible version and it is reportedly headed for an official debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The B4 B-Turbo gets a heavily tweaked version of BMW’s 3.0 liter In-line Six Turbo engine with 410 horsepower.

Alpina could have made the car more powerful, but then it would enter the M4’s line of fire, and that would kill the whole thing. The idea of Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio is that those who find the standard M4 a bit too brash and,  well, obvious,  can get something with similar performance but understated styling.

And it really is understated, this Alpina B4. Unlike the standard M cars that get large bumpers and massive intakes, the aero kit on the Alpina is pretty subtle and cool. The exhaust pipes are of a modest size, and although the wheels are pretty big at 20-inch, they have a very elegant design. Same story applies to the interior, where Alpina usually prefers the use of wood and leather to carbon and suede.

Official details of the Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo Cabrio are expected to be released soon. There will also be a coupe version with the same details and specs.
