Daimler formed a joint venture with the Chinese company Shenzhen BYD to mass produce electric cars for the Chinese markets. The first outcome of this project, the Denza EV, is now almost ready for launch, and will make its debut at the Auto China trade fair in Beijing in April 2014.

The launch of BYD Daimler Denza electric vehicle will also mark the debut of an innovative fast charger system they have made, which offers many new features to make the job of recharging the EV less of an ordeal.

The home wall-mounted fast chargers will be sold through DENZA dealerships along with the vehicle with the promise to significantly reduce charging time. They feature a mobile app that allows remote monitoring and control of charging sessions, with the option of charging status change notifications.

BYD Daimler Denza EV is developed in China, for China. The major cities in that country are chocking on the pollution emitted from the millions of cars traveling across them every day. The launch of Denza EV is part of the drastic measures the Chinese government has taken to remedy the situation. As part of these efforts, public fast charging is expected to be rolled out in China in the near future.
