The latest version of the Buick’s sporty mid-size sedans, the Regal, is now available with a clever permanent all-wheel-drive system that makes it a suitable car for dealing with the harsh winter of Canada and Northern States of America. Available for both normal and GS models, the AWD system improves the Regal’s versatility.

Buick puts emphasize on the fact that this system is no ordinary four-wheel-drive system, but rather an on-demand automatic AWD system. It is capable of distributing the power front to rear and side to side. It can shift torque to the wheels based on vehicle data and driver input. This way the wheel that has the most traction always gets the most of the torque, meaning the chance of getting stuck is drastically reduced.

The system features an active Haldex module and an electronic limited slip differential.

It is not just on slippery surfaces that all-wheel-drive is beneficial. Seeing as the standard Regal is front-wheel-drive, the AWD is a welcome addition even if you always drive on dry surfaces.
