This amazing thing you see here is the result of a joint project between German firms Kodewa Performance Motorcycles and Holzer Group, and Lotus Motorcycles. It’s not really a Lotus bike, since the British company had nothing to do with the design and development of it. But it carries the Lotus badge, which will probably help it sell easier.

The Lotus C-01 high performance bike is powered by a V2, water-cooled, 4-stroke engine that makes a very impressive 200 horsepower, transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-gear jaw-type shift transmission.

Performance numbers are yet to be announced, but 200 horsepower in a vehicle that weighs only 181 kg equals mind-boggling speed. It is a good job then the C-01 features twin suspension strut, and high-performance brakes with twin 320mm discs and four piston calipers at the front, and single disk and two-pot caliper at the back.

The best thing about the Lotus C-01 motorcycles, though, is the way it looks. The bike is designed by Daniel Simon, a former designer for Bugatti Automobiles, and the man who created the ‘Lightcycles’ in the film ‘Tron: Legacy’, and the ‘Bubbleship’ used by Tom Cruise in ‘Oblivion’.

The C-01 production is limited to 00 units to maintain exclusivity. It will be available in a range of liveries some of which pay homage to Lotus’ sporting pedigree, but you can customize the paint job if you like. No word on the pricing yet.
