Audi’s lineup of ultra-efficient models welcomes new members in the British market as the company announces ultra versions of A4, A4 Avant and A5 Coupe. They are all powered by the 2.0 liter TDI ultra diesel unit, developing 163 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and all of them come with a six-speed manual gearbox.

In the case of the A5 TDI, the performance numbers are 8.3 seconds to 62 mph, and a top speed of 140 mph. The A4 manages to reach 62 mph in 8.3, and can reach a top speed of 134 mph. The sedan version does 56 mph, while the estate (Avant) version manages 55. As you can see, performance and economy in all models are fairly similar.

The main difference between the new Audi Ultra models, apart from the looks obviously, is the equipment. The A4 SE models are the best equipped of the lot, featuring 17-inch alloy wheels, an Audi Concert CD audio system incorporating DAB digital radio and linked to a 6.5-inch colour monitor, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensors and electronic climate control. A5 SE models also feature Milano leather upholstery.

The standard 18-inch wheels are swapped for 17-inch versions to maximise economy. This is the same reason why all A4 and A5 ultra models are equipped as standard with lowered sports suspension. Available options include hard disk-based MMI Navigation plus, Audi Music Interface (AMI) iPod connection and the Audi Parking System Plus with front and rear sensors.

Ultra versions of the A4, A4 Avant and A5 Coupe are now available to order priced from £28,320 OTR, £29,620 OTR and £31,120 OTR respectively. Later in 2014 an A5 Sportback ultra will join the range.
