It is always quite fascinating to go behind the scenes and witness the process manufacturers undertake to come up with a new product. It is doubly interesting when the manufacturer is Maserati, and the product in question the new Alfieri concept.

Maserati Alfieri was, without a question or shadow of doubt, the most exquisite concept car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. In this video, Maserati takes us inside their design studio, where we get to see the early clay models of the car as the designers explain how they went about creating this magnificent thing, and what it means to Maserati’s future.

The Maserati Alfieri presented at Geneva featured a 4.7 liter V8 engine out of a Gran Turismo. If they get around making it though, and they hopefully will, chances are the production version would be getting a turbocharged V6. The Alfieri is, after all, smaller and lighter than the Turismo, and is more of a sports car than a full-blown Grand Tourer. At any rate, the car looks so scrumptious we wouldn’t mind if they produced with a four-cylinder diesel engine!
