As a sort of sideshow to the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercars race in Adelaide, Australia, Nissan set up a little Time Attack competition between three unlikely rivals. In this race the mighty Nissan GT-R took on the electric racer Nismo LEAF RC and the Supercars contender Nissan Altima V8.
Nissan factory driver and television commentator Neil Crompton along with racer Samantha Zanotto drove the GT-R; Todd Kelly drove his #7 Jack Daniel’s Nissan Altima; and former V8 Supercars champion Rick Kelly drove the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC.
The “Nissan Time Attack” supported the opening event of the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship at the Adelaide Parklands circuit where the Nissan Motorsport four-car Altima team battled against its rivals in the manufacturer’s second season in V8 Supercars competition. It wasn’t really so much a race as a friendly match between three Nissans to show off the scope of the firm’s motorsport activities, and warm up the spectators for the main event.
