On the eve of 2014 New York Auto Show, Volkswagen confirmed the launch of the latest version of the Golf GTI in the American market and announced its pricing and specs. The hot hatch king comes in two trim levels and lots of options, including the Performance Package, and costs 195 bucks more than the previous generation GTI.
Prices for the 2015 Golf GTI starts from $24,395 (plus $820 destination) for the S version with two-door body shape with a six-speed manual gearbox. The SE Models starts from $27,395, and there is an SE Autobahn version for those who want more equipment, starting at $29,595. A DSG transmission will add $1,100 to these prices.
All versions of the 2015 Golf GTI are powered by the same 210 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is pretty quick and returns up to 34 mpg. Later in the year there will be a $1,495 Performance Pack available, adding larger brakes, a torque-sensing electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, and a 10 horsepower boost over the regular model.
The standard kit on all GTI models include 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels; Bluetooth connectivity; a touchscreen radio; Sirius XM Satellite radio; a Media Device Interface (MDI) with iPod integration; a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, handbrake, and shifter knob; VW Car-Net connected services; ambient and footwell lighting with LED reading lights; cloth sport seats with heritage GTI design; LED foglights; heatable front seats; and a new driving mode selection feature.
