Mercedes-Benz is finally ready to enter the sport activity segment and release a rival for the BMW X6. Previewed here in form of the Concept Coupe SUV, the car is basically a large four-door coupe on high heels, and if we’re honest it doesn’t look that interesting.
That could be due to the fact that we’re used to seeing the X6 for the past few years, and so other similarly-shaped cars just don’t seem exciting anymore. What’s more, Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV doesn’t bring anything new to the table either, as it is almost a copy of the X6 in every single panel.
Highlights of the car’s design include an imposing front grille, all-LED Multibeam headlamps, a rear-end inspired by the new S-Class Coupe, dual-flow exhaust system with twin tailpipes, and 22-inch wheels with tyres in size 305/45 R 22. Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV is painted in the “Alu Beam” paint finish, an homage to the Silver Arrows of the 30s and 50s.
Mechanically, the Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 engine developing 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque. We will soon see this engine in many Mercedes production models as a replacement for the old 350. The car also features 4MATIC, a 9G-TRONIC PLUS nine-speed automatic transmission, start/stop, and, for some reason, ceramic composite brake system.
A production version of the Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV could get the MLC badge.
