Yesterday Fiat Chrysler outlined the company’s new strategy and production plans, and it included lots more besides the demise of SRT. It revealed what we can expect from the subsidiaries of the giant corporation, and there is some very good news. Maserati Alfieri has been confirmed for production, and it is coming in both coupe and cabrio versions.

The plan for Maserati’s production over the next five years puts the Alfieri in its 2016/17 section, with the cabrio version following it a year later.

The sexy sports coupe will benefit from a range of new engines, including two V6 units and a V8. The V6 comes in two 350 Ps and 425 PS versions, while the V8 will deliver over 560 PS. Maserati Alfieri will be offered with rear- or all-wheel-drive.

There is also a new diesel engine with three power outputs of 250 PS, 275 PS, and 340 PS, but it is not likely to be offered in the sports car. This unit is reserved for family cars like the Ghibli and the upcoming Levante SUV, which is finally coming in 2015.

Later this year we will also see new versions of the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio.
