Fiat-Chrysler released an official statement announcing the death of SRT brand. Created a few years ago make high-performance versions of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, SRT will be dissolved and SRT family of vehicles will be consolidated under the Dodge brand.

So this means the Viper is once again a Dodge. Not sure if that will help with the sluggish sales, but Dodge Viper just sounds better than SRT Viper. As for what other SRT cars like the Jeep Cherokee SRT8 are going to be called, we have to wait and see.

Ralph Gilles, the boss of SRT, continues to work for the company as the Senior Vice President of Product Design and President and CEO of Motorsports effective immediately. Meanwhile strategic decision about SRT products will be mad by Tim Kuniskis, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dodge brand.

“I want to thank Ralph for his dedication to the SRT brand,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chairman and CEO, Chrysler Group LLC. “Under Ralph’s leadership, the SRT brand expanded its vehicle lineup to include more highly customized models and received numerous automotive awards and distinctions.”
