Airstream has collaborated with Mercedes-Benz once again to launch a new VIP luxury van based on the automaker’s Sprinter model. Called the Autobahn, the van is inspired by private jets and features an interior that does really rival those things.
Opening the power entry sliding door of the Airstream Autobahn, you enter a lavishly-equipped and nicely-appointed interior that features durable wood trim, leather seating, dual refrigerators and individualized controls. Passengers also enjoy other amenities such as power footrest, heated seating and power outlets (120v and USB) along with a workspace equipped with a functional desk.
The highlight of Airstream Autobahn is the Airstream Smart Control System which enables centralized control for all main cabin lighting, shades, heating and air conditioning through the user’s smart device. Using the onboard electronic control, or your own web-enabled smartphone or tablet, you can also control the vehicle’s 32 inch LCD TV screen, Blu-Ray player, Pandora, and an Apple TV box with Air Play functionality.
Airstream has not mentioned the cost of the Autobahn luxury van, but knowing that converting a normal van to something like this at a custom shop can easily set you back $150K, we reckon the price tag for this van is quite mahoosive.
