Thanks to a thorough restoration this beautiful 1970 BMW Alpina 2002ti finds another chance to roar around the race track like it used to back in day. The venue where it will stroll down the memory lane is Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, where it will be raced by Road&Track’s Sam Smith.

BMW Alpina 2002ti features the tuner/car maker’s signature Weber side draft carburetor setup, engine performance upgrades, flared fenders and three piece ALPINA alloy wheels. The best feature of it, however, is that iconic design which is one of the most legendary looks in the auto world.

The restoration job on this car has been meticulous and time consuming. The steering wheel, for example, was sent to Germany in order for ALPINA’s leather specialists to restore the hand stitched leather. It was all worth it though, as the end result looks spectacular.
