About a week ago BMW announced they will be unveiling a special edition version of the new and newly released i8 at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. They have no released further details and pictures of this car, which will be auctioned by Gooding & Co to benefit the Pebble Beach Foundation.
BMW i8 Concours d’Elegance Edition is a one of a kind model featuring unique paint scheme and interior treatment. On the outside it features BMW Individual Frozen Grey Metallic paint job and on the inside Dalbergia Brown leather upholstery, which is tanned using dye derived from plant extracts, garnished with BMW i Blue stitching.
This special version of the i8 will introduce a number of “firsts” in the U.S. market, including laser headlights, pending government approval, a BMW i8 Display key as well as the first BMW Charging Station, professional edition. The car also comes with a laser-etched “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Edition” on its door sills and a plaque on the rear parcel shelf signed by BMW officials.
Mechanically and electronically, BMW i8 Concours d’Elegance Edition is the same as the standard model with a 3-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine and an electric motor. Performance-wise, the car does 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
