Mercedes specialist Carlsson announced the launch of a very light tuning package for the Mercedes G63 6×6. The package includes a mild performance upgrade and some very nice interior modifications, but that’s about it. We were expecting more form Carlsson, but maybe there is more yet to come.
People who buy cars like the G63 6×6 do not like compromises. That is why most tuners who touch this car first and foremost give it a huge power increase. Brabus offers 700 PS, Mansory 850 PS, and those crazy people at Dartz a full 1,000 horsepower. Carlsson Mercedes G63 6×6 meanwhile gets only 650 PS.
That is not a significant increase given the standard power output of the M157 engine which stands at 550 PS. It has been achieved by simply remapping the fuelling, ignition and boost on full throttle, and also results in a healthy 900 Nm of torque, which is handy when you have three huge axles to lug about.
As for the individual interior treatment we told you about, Carlsson Mercedes G63 6×6 benefits from signature line leather and Alcantara, with trim inserts in wood or carbon-fiber. The customer has full control over the colors. Also included in the program are floor mats made of soft suede or Merino sheepskin, stainless steel scuff plates bearing a blue illuminated Carlsson logo, and aluminium door-lock pins and foot-pedal pads.
