Young kids may have more courage and motivation, but they also crack under pressure more easily than the big boys. That is exactly the case with Scuderia Toro Rosso’s new driver, the 16-year-old Max Verstappen. In a demo run in Rotterdam the kid first nearly crashed, and then actually did!
We don’t want to slam Max, or undermine his chances against all the big names when he enters Formula 1 next year. But you have to admit this is pretty funny (skip to 1:30):
Well, this can’t be good for morale, to say the least. Some people may use this to argue that the only reason Max Verstappen was signed was because of his father’s fame as an ex-F1 champion. That might not be true, and the kid may have some talent after all. But from what we saw, he is not yet ready to handle the mental pressure of being in Formula 1.
