So last night we finally got to see the all-new Mercedes AMG GT, and while it didn’t exactly give us the emotional jolt we were told it would, we were thoroughly impressed by the car’s amazing looks and technical specs. Now that the dust has started to settle, let’s have a deeper look at the AMG GT, starting with some videos and some live photos form the unveiling ceremony in Affalterbach.
Mercedes AMG GT will launch in early 2015 in two models: the entry-level 462 horsepower version, and the 510 horsepower S-Model. Both come with a transaxle 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, but the former gets a mechanical locking rear differential while the latter benefits from an electronic one.
Thanks to its light weight (weighing just over 1,500 kg), sport suspension, and a bespoke AMG Ride Control system, the Mercedes AMG GT is said to have the handling of a go kart with almost no body to roll. That will enable the driver to make the most of the available power for cornering at incredible speed.
While we’re at it, here’s some footage of the AMG GT in the upcoming video game Driveclub. Chances are most of us will only get to drive the GT in the video games, so…
And here’s some live shots of AMG GT for those who want to have a closer look at this bad boy and maybe wonder why it looks like a retro hatchback, or whether or not it would look nicer with round tailpipes.
