The mad scientists of Mcchip-DKR have done it again, boosting the power output of a seriously beefy engine with nothing but a few lines of code. The subject this time is the magnificent Jaguar F-Type V8S convertible, and it gets a an extra 65 horsepower.
The 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine in the Jaguar F-Type V8S has been subjected by Mcchip to a software upgrade treatment which alters a few important parameters in the car’s electronic brain, such as ignition timing and fuel to air ratio, and increases the output with no mechanical change.
In the case of this V8 engine, the power goes up from the standard 495 PS and 625 Nm to a fairly massive 560 PS and 670 Nm of torque. That ought to have a profound effect on the performance of the handsome British sports car. The engine’s grunt now matches its growl!
Mcchip has not mentioned the price of the software upgrade foe Jaguar F-Type V8S, but they say it requires four hours to install. That includes a dyne test to make sure the changes have taken.
