While in Orange County covering the International Motor Show, CarNinja organized an epic photoshoot with more than 20 Audi R8s. Project R8 started with rolling shots on the highway and ended up with individual shots of some of the most unique R8s in the group.

The huge Audi R8 convoy the guys put together include various V8 and V10 models, some of them tricked-out with body kits and aftermarket wheels. What strikes us as kind of odd, though, is that all of the R8s here are hardtop models and all of them feature sober colors like grey, black, white and dark blue.

That tells you a lot about the kind of person who buys the Audi R8 instead of a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. He appreciates the performance of a super car but does not particularly like standing out. He gives quality and comfort a higher priority than speed and performance. And when he turns up for a meeting and a photoshoot, he sticks neatly to the formation directed by the photographer!

Project R8 is also very timely, as this generation of the R8 is on its very last legs and will be replaced next year by an all-new model.
