Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy alfresco motoring anymore. Here’s two absolutely brilliant drop-top cars that will let you enjoy top-down motoring all year round. They are the BMW M4 Convertible and the Audi RS5 Cabriolet, and what they have in common is H&R special springs.

The German suspension specialist has developed tailored springs for both these cars with 30mm lowering and no compromise on the comfort and ride quality. Now, all cars look better lowered and hunkered down, but the M4 and the RS5 look extra hot after getting this treatment due to their natural beauty.

As to why these cars are perfect for open-top driving regardless of the season, the BMW M4 Convertible comes with a three-piece folding hardtop that takes 20 seconds to move in place, after which you have a fully-fledged coupe. The Audi has a soft top, but it benefits from a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system which makes it planted on the road, come rainy or shine.

The hardtop versions of the M4 and the RS5 are deadly rivals in the sports coupe segment. The Audi packs a naturally-aspirated 450 horsepower V8 engine, whereas the Bimmer has a much newer 430 horsepower straight-six turbo. To an average driver who doesn’t care about under and oversteer, they are both equally impressive.
