Audi Quattro on Auction for BBC Children in Need

We were just telling about a Jaguar XJ220 once owned by Sultan of Brunei now being auctioned off so another rich man can enjoy himself with it. Now let’s see something a little less selfish, for lack of a better word, an Audi Quattro being auctioned online to benefit  ‘BBC Children in Need’ charity appeal.

This red ‘Ur Quattro’ is actually a famous car, having starred in BBC hit drama series Ashes to Ashes, as the personal ride of DCI Gene Hunt. The 1983 two-valve-per-cylinder turbocharged five-cylinder petrol sports car has been fully restored by Audi UK for this event and is looking as sharp as it once did in the TV show.

The fans of the series will also be pleased to know that this Audi Quattro is adorned with the autograph of actor Phil Glenister, who played Hunt, and his famous line  “fire up the quattro” handwritten under the bonnet. Phil is also helping out with the publicity efforts for this campaign.

So instead of spending 200 grand on that Brunei Jaguar, go online and bid on this car. Granted, the Quattro won’t give you the same buzz the XJ200 will. But you will be helping a good cause, and the good feeling you get from that will last longer than any joy you can get out of that supercar.
