Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Officially Unveiled

Mercedes Maybach S class 0 600x367 at Mercedes Maybach S Class Officially Unveiled

Last Night at the Los Angeles Auto Show something quite important happened, and that was the return of the Maybach brand. After the mess it made last time when it was on its own, this time around they decided to attach to it to a successful nameplate, so welcome the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The new Maybach is a variant of the S-Class W222 model which might be a disappointing for people who were expecting something more unique and, well, fancy. Then again, the last Maybach was also an elongated S-Class, it just looked a bit different.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will be offered with V8 and V12 engines, or S500 and S600 variants. These are the familiar Mercedes engines we all know and admire. The former will have 455 horsepower while the latter provides a mighty 530 horsepower. In a year or so Mercedes will also launch a S400 Maybach with a V6 engine, which sounds ridiculous, but such is the climate in the luxury segment these days.

Obviously, you would expect the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to be lush, plush, and extremely luxurious, and it doesn’t disappoint. It is pitched as the quietest car in the world and the rear passenger compartment rivals the cabin of the business class level in an Airbus A380 in terms of comfort and convenience. Reclining seats, fridge, TV screens, … you get the lot.
