As expected, Mercedes-Benz is bringing back the Maybach and giving it another go, this time as a member of the W222 S-Class family. To make it seem more special though, the new super deluxe sedan will be called Mercedes Maybach S600.
So it is part Maybach, part normal S-Class powered by a V12 engine; at least if that ‘600’ is anything to go by. That badge is only used for the Mercedes models powered by the firm’s 6.0 liter, 600+ horsepower engine. The Maybach could benefit from an AMG-tweaked version of this engine, as was the case with the original 57S and 62S models.
Mercedes Maybach S600 will makes its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in a couple of weeks, boasting a body that is fairly similar to that of the S-Class, but features special little touches to look more ‘bespoke’ and special. As with the original Maybach, the new car is all about the interior – rear passenger compartment, to be more precise. There it gets the usual mix of fine leather and wood, maybe a dash of carbon fiber on the exclusive console, folding tables, TV screens, a fridge for your alcoholic beverages, and the all important reclining seats.
Stay tuned for complete details and pictures of the 2016 Mercedes Maybach S600 over the next few days.
