Audi unveiled a new version of their Q3 crossover plus a new and thoroughly upgraded RS Q3. If it weren’t for the Audi RS Q3, this mini-SUV range could have won the title of the most mind-numbingly boring crossover in the world.
But The RS version exists, and it is a very impressive little car, boasting a 2.5-litre, five?cylinder engine with 340PS and 450 Nm (331.9 lb?ft) of torque in the latest model. Thanks to a new RS exhaust system, the engine sings all the way from 0 to 60 mph, which takes only 4.8 seconds, and then on to 155 mph.
2015 Audi RS Q3 benefits from the fifth generation Quattro AWD system with hydraulic multi?plate clutch and comes as standard with a seven?speed S tronic transmission. The RS treatment also adds large eight-piston calipers brakes, and sport suspension which can be optionally fitted with electronically controlled damping adjustable via Audi drive select.
Visually, you can tell Audi RS Q3 apart from normal models thanks to high-gloss black honeycomb front grille and RS bumpers, a special front treatment including a quattro emblem in the air intake and a distinctive rear diffuser insert flanked by a large elliptical tailpipe, 20-inch wheels and a roof spoiler.
Inside you will find Nappa leather seats with contrast stitching, red needles on grey dials in the instrument cluster and a Driver’s Information System offering a special RS menu with lap timer, oil temperature and boost pressure displays set the tone.
