2015 CES Preview: Mercedes Autonomous Concept

Mercedes-Benz announced the launch of a brand-new and extremely advanced concept at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. This as yet unnamed concept has one big party piece and that is the ability to drive itself.

The Mercedes Autonomous Concept, which is what we call it until they come up with an appropriate name for it, also looks very futuristic, what with an almost egg-like bodyshell and an almost horizontal windscreen. This car had been spotted before under heavy disguise, so we knew the rough shape of the body. But nobody has yet seen it in full glory. For all we know it could be a game-changer. Mercedes does have a habit of doing such things.

Looks aside, the Mercedes Autonomous Concept will also showcase the latest and greatest in connectivity, car to car communication, and electronic gadgets – otherwise unveiling it at CES would have ben an exercise in futility, since most of the visitors to this event are more into smartphones than cars.

If we know Mercedes-Benz, they have probably come up with clever new technology for autonomous driving, or have enhanced the existing system. Stay tuned, this could be quite interesting.
